“We’re trying to capitalize on people’s youth with dime-store candy to the nth degree,” says Josh Hodapp, manager of Dean & DeLuca in Town Center Plaza.
So the store recently updated its bulk candy offerings. Customers can choose a little or a lot of this or that from apothecary jars filled with gummy bears, red licorice whips and lollipops.
Simple pleasures, indeed. But prices range from $80 per pound for fine chocolates to $8 per pound for malted milk balls. “There’s not much that’s a penny at Dean & Deluca,” Hodapp says.
